1315 MASS MoCA Way, North Adams, MAAt the gallery’s MASS MoCA location in North Adams, CYNTHIA-REEVES presents Chinese Abstraction, an exhibition that brings together artwork in diverse media by four contemporary Chinese artists. The show features minimalist paintings by Shen Chen; monumental watercolors of the urban landscape by Paul Ching-Bor; and rich abstract oil paintings by Lianghong Feng.

The Barn at 28 Main Street, Walpole, NHContemporary Chinese artist Lianghong Feng is inspired by a heady mixture of ancient Chinese philosophy, calligraphy, Eastern and Western art history, and urban graffiti. He covers his canvases with beautifully complementary passages of color and all manner of marks, including fat, paint-laden brushstrokes; thin, sketchy scribbles; drips; daubs; and splatters.

1315 MASS MoCA Way, North Adams, MACYNTHIA-REEVES exhibits a concise presentation of five Composition Red paintings Beijing-based painter, Lianghong Feng, and works by American sculptor, Eric Slayton. Both artists achieve a distinct cultural hegemony within their practice, underscoring their collective experiences and impressions of Eastern and Western influences within their oeuvres.

1315 MASS MoCA Way, North Adams MACYNTHIA-REEVES will open Independent Art Projects on Thursday, June 26, with a solo exhibition of mural sized paintings by Beijing-based artist, Lianghong Feng. Feng’s dual influences of East and West merge seamlessly in abstract canvases punctuated by calligraphic markings, paint drips and textural changes on the surface. Feng’s work was recently the subject of a major mid-career retrospective at the Inside Out Museum, Beijing, where it assumed three floors of exhibition space, and notes the largest showing of Feng’s work to date.
